FIs, FIIs renew buying, help pivotals to recover after early losses; Nifty up 12 points to 943.50
Pivotals recovered early losses on short covering by operators and renewed buying support from public financial institutions and foreign institutional investors at the National Stock Exchange today. The key index S&P CNX Nifty opened at 928.85, saw a high and low of 944.45 and 916 and ended higher at 943.50, showing a net gain of 12.15 points from the last closing of 931.35. The CNX Nifty Junior ended 29.55 points higher at 1713.05 and S&P CNX Defty rose by 10.55 points to close at 763.65. The S&P CNX 500 and CNX Midcap 200 indices ended 7.70 and 7.91 points up at 648.67 and 579.32 respectively. A total of 507 scrips advanced, 364 declined, 60 were unchanged while 117 scrips hit their price bands in today's trading. Pentafour Software topped the turnover list registering Rs 3.36 billion followed by Satyam Computers (Rs 2.79 billion), ITC (Rs 1.17 billion), Zee Telefilms (Rs 851 million) and Ranbaxy (Rs 581.9 million). Others that posted a high turnover were Reliance, SBI, ACC, Rolta, Silverline, DSQ Software, Tata Tea and L&T. UNI
