The Lok Sabha is expected to approve the 1999-2000 Union Budget and Finance Bill before April 23 as per the schedule made by the government.

Following their passage in the lower house, the Rajya Sabha will then take up the Budget and Finance Bill, Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha said.

Sinha said the Lok Sabha will take up political issues on the first three days of the resumed session beginning April 15. The financial business will be taken up from the week beginning April 19, when the house will discuss the demand for grants of ministries.

Later, the appropriation bill will be taken up and approved by the house.

The Finance Bill is expected to be discussed and approved by the Lok Sabha on or before April 23.

Replying to a question, the finance minister said there will be no problems in the passage of the Budget and Finance Bill as all political parties are aware of their responsibilities.

"Each one is aware of the danger to the system if the Budget or Finance Bill are stalled or delayed,'' Sinha said and added he was confident of getting the Budget and Finance Bill approved by Parliament.
