Reforms are being continued, feels PVFormer prime minister P V Narasimha Rao today refused to comment on the criticism of the economic reforms launched in the country during his tenure. He parried questions in this regard at a press conference in Hyderabad, convened in connection with the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations, commencing from September 17. Rao, who is the chairman of the Swami Ramananda Theertha Memorial Committee, which is organising the celebrations, said "I think the reforms are being continued. I am not in touch. I am not keeping well." When newsmen pressed further, he said he was in no position to make political statements. Asked if he would own responsibility for the reforms, Rao said he did not think so, adding that "why should I be disturbed with things with which I am not concerned?" However, he said qualitative reforms were taking place all over the world and India could not remain in isolation. UNI
