Corruption is a low-risk, high-profit business, says vigilant VittalChief Vigilance Commissioner N Vittal says he is in favour of enacting a law to confiscate wealth amassed through corrupt means. ''Today corruption is a low-risk, high-profit business,'' he said in a television interview. He stressed speedy investigation in corruption cases and ridiculed departmental inquiries, which he said must be completed within six months. Retired officials can be useful in clearing off pending cases, he added. Vittal said he would endeavour to ensure that banks, where lack of computerisation had helped frauds, exchange information about defrauding industrialists or borrowers.
