Pivotals' prices spurt; Nifty up over 27 points, 845.25

Buoyant conditions prevailed as prices of pivotals flared up at the National Stock Exchange today.

The S&P CNX Nifty opened at 817.35, saw a high and low of 854.10 and 817.60 and closed at 845.25, showing a net gain of 27.90 points.

The S&P CNX Nifty Junior closed at 1476.80, gaining 65.20 points, S&P CNX Defty at 693.05, rising 23.35 points, S&P CNX 500 at 585.95, increasing by 22.39 points and CNX Midcap 200 at 525.86, adding 24.59 points.

A total of 871 scrips advanced, 128 declined and 55 were unchanged. 183 scrips hit their price bands.

ITC topped the turnover list with Rs 3.62 billion followed by Satyam Computers (Rs 2.91 billion), Zee Telefilms (Rs 1.24 billion), SBI (Rs 1.13 billion) and Pentafour Software (Rs 1.08 billion). Others that recorded a high turnover were Reliance, Hindustan Lever, Telco, MTNL, HCL-HP, Digital and Dr Reddy's.

The top gainers were IFCI, BoI, Reliance Petro, Reliance Capital and Arvind, while prominent among those that shed value was Hindustan Lever Limited.

UNI
