Vadhvan port project in trouble, admits Manohar Joshi

Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi today confirmed that the P and O company, which was to construct the multi-crore Vadhvan international port at Vadhvan in Dahanu taluka of Thane district, was finding some problems in going ahead with the project.

He said that if the Australian company faces financial constraints, it should discuss the same with the government. Asked if P and O was not interested in the project, he said they were interested but there might be some financial problems.

if it withdrew, will the state government pursue P and O to complete the project, he said, ''Yes, definitely, we will pursue them to put up the project. They can discuss the problems with us, he said.

It may be recalled that the project had faced numerous problems with the locals resisting it and launching numerous legal battles.
