NSE shows a slight gainPivotals moved in a narrow range and edged up at close with improved sentiment on the National Stock Exchange Friday. The NSE-50 index gained 0.40 points to 1,126.55 points as compared to the previous close of 1,126.15 points. However, the dollar NSE-50 index fell by 1.85 points to 960.20 against the last working day's close of 962.45 points. The midcap index improved slightly by 6 points to 1,640.35 points over its previous close of 1,634.35 points. The total turnover on 61.6 million scrips in 193,497 trades was Rs 17.82 billion while the debenture's turnover stood at Rs 88.2 million. Eightyfour securities hit their price bands today. Four hundred and seventy two gained, 556 declined while 102 remained unchanged. ITC registered the highest turnover of 6 billion, followed by Satyam Comp 2.29 billion, Pentsfware 1.07 billion, Reliance 807.8 million, ACC 726.6 million, SBIN 675.5 million, BPL 500.6 million, Zee Tele 482.6 million, ICICI 336.8 million, Hind Lever 254.8 million, Infosystch 254.4 million, Tisco 249 million and Videocon 243 million. The other actively traded counters are Silver Line 231.6 million, Bajaj Auto 223.3 million, Sqrdsfware 210.9 million, Nestle 195 million, Tata Tea 192.7 million, Bflsoftware 185.4 million, Castarol 178.6 million, LML 116 million, Telco 104.3 million, Telco 104.3 million, Sterlite 101.3 million, L and T 99.1 million and Softsolint 80.3 million. ICICI stood first in the gainers list with 3.81 per cent increase, followed by Bajaj Auto 2.80 per cent, TVS Suzuki 2.40 per cent, Grasim 1.99 per cent and Hind Lever 1.09 per cent, while the IPCL was the topmost loser with 2.48 per cent, followed by Ranbaxy 2.35 per cent, Asian Paint 2.10 per cent , HDFC 1.69 per cent and Nestle 1.61 per cent.
