States must get 29 per cent revenue: task force

Send this story to a friend

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government's special task has recommended the Centre make necessary constitutional amendments in the coming session of Parliament to enable states to obtain more than 29 per cent of the revenue as recommended by the Tenth Finance Commission.

The task force was constituted to propose its recommendations regarding greater financial powers to states.

The second meeting of the task force, which was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, strongly felt that the Voluntary Disclosure of Income Scheme share of the states should not be included in the 29 per cent. This would enable the states to have an arrears of Rs 45 billion.
