Nifty down by 5.5 pointsA low sentiment prevailed at the National Stock Exchange and pivotals price witnessed a gradual decline. The NSE-50 index opened at 1083.35 points, touched day's high of 1083.95 points, low of 1072.40 points before closing at 1077.50 points, suffering a loss of 5.50 points as against the previous close of 1083.00 points. The Dollar NSE-50 finished at 945.10 points over the last trading day's close of 950.30 points losing 5.20 points. The Midcap index settled down at 1230.10 points as compared to yesterday's close of 1235.75 points, declining 5.65 points. The total turnover of Rs 15.7 billion involving 56.7 million shares in 169,965 trades. Top gainers were Oriental Bank, ITC, Indian Hotels, BPCL, and Colgate and losers were Arvind Mills, Rel Petro, Thermax, IPCL and Ponds. The exchange also witnessed 58 securities have hit their price bands. Hectic trading was witnessed at ITC Rs 6.2 billion, Reliance Rs 1.9 billion, SBI-N Rs 1.6 billion, Hind Lever Rs 1.2 billion, Tata Tea Rs 920.9 million, ACC Rs 530.4 million, Castrol Rs 498 million, LML Rs 284.3 million, Bajaj Auto Rs 262.2 million, TISCO Rs 228.2 million, TELCO Rs 214.2 million, Sterlite Rs 157.8 million, L and T Rs 127.9 million, BHEL Rs 96.6 million, MTNL Rs 90.7 million, BSES Rs 84.8 million, Reck Colman Rs 82.9 million, Ponds Rs 61 million, Hero Honda Rs 52.3 million, Glaxo Rs 51.8 million, Bank of Baroda Rs 51 million, HDFC Rs 43.5 million, ICICI Rs 41.1 million, Corp Bank Rs 4 million, SmithKline Rs 37.7 million.
