Sanctions will weaken in course of time: SinhaUnion Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha today said the sanctions imposed by the United States and other countries will weaken in the course of time, as people start realising India's point of view in conducting the nuclear tests. Sinha, delivering the inaugural S S Nadkarni memorial lecture instituted by the Investment Research and Information Services Limited in Bombay on Monday, said, ''In the past, sanctions imposed by the US on other countries have not worked, and records and studies reveal that the US and the sanction-imposing countries stand to lose in the long run.'' It is not a long-term feature, he said adding that as and when people start understanding India's point of view, sanctions will be withdrawn. ''We do not want to dictate... But at the same time we do not want to be dictated,'' the finance minister. He said that there was nothing to panic and India was in the right direction. The concept of mutuality should be the key to global relations,'' he added. UNI
