BSE Sensitive Index

Sensex up by 16.57 points

Pivotals recovered on renewed buying support from local investors and domestic institutions, aiding the Sensex to close higher on the Bombay Stock Exchange today.

According to leading brokers, Calcutta-based brokers bought a large quantity of State Bank of India shares. Stock markets in Southeast and East Asia opened higher in the morning, which aided the uptrend.

Foreign institutional investors adopted a wait-and-watch approach today, participating in the day's trading in a nominal way, brokers said.

The BSE-30 Sensitive index opened at 3373.10 points. It saw a high of 3398.97 points and a low of 3351.21 points. The Sensex ended at 3382.32 points as against the previous close of 3365.75 points showing a net gain of 16.57 points.

The BSE-100 index ended at 1477.70 points as against the previous close of 1471.55 points, showing an increase of 6.15 points.

The BSE-200 index closed at 332.48 points as compared to 330.60 points yesterday, showing a gain of 1.88 points. The Dollex index closed at 137.45 points as compared to 136.80 points, showing a rise of 0.65 points.
