Nifty up 14.95 pointsOptimistic sentiments prevailed on the National Stock Exchange today with pivotals being traded at higher levels as compared to their previous close. The NSE-50 Index opened at 1045.85 points, touched the day's high of 1064.15 points, low of 1045.75 points and closed at 1060.75 points, showing a net gain of 14.95 points as against the previous close of 1045.80 points. The Dollar NSE-50 (Defty) index closed at 934.25 points over the yesterday's close of 922.60 points, gaining 11.65 points. The Midcap index finished at 1213.15 points as compared to last trading day's close of 1187.05 points, increasing 26.10 points. The total turnover on the exchange was Rs 18.7 billion involving 66.7 million shares in 209,920 trades. The exchange witnessed 120 securities hit their price bands. The top gainers were ACC, Larsen and Toubro, EI Hotels, IFCI and TISCO and losers were Glaxo, TV Suzuki, BHEL, Ponds and Nestle. Hectic trading was witnessed at ITC (Rs 697.84 million), Tata Tea (Rs 1.3 billion), Reliance (Rs 1.1 billion), Ranbaxy (Rs 1.1 billion), Castrol (Rs 991.1 million), ACC (Rs 961.2 million), SBI-N (Rs 886.3 million), LML (Rs 599.9 million), TISCO (Rs 505 million), L&T (Rs 405.5 million), Hind Lever (Rs 382.2 million), MTNL (Rs 352.5 million), TELCO (Rs 270.9 million), BHEL (Rs 252.5 million), Bajaj Auto (Rs 193.7 million), Ponds (Rs 17.3 million), P&G (Rs 12.61 million), Sterlite (Rs 125.5 million), BSES (Rs 106.3 million), Glaxo (Rs 88.9 million), Corp Bank (84.5 million), ICICI (Rs 71.7 million), HPCL (Rs 69.1 million), BPL (Rs 64.9 million) and Rel Dep LS-ML (Rs 59.7).
