Fardeen exempt from appearing in courtFardeen Khan, booked in a case of cocaine seizure, was on Friday exempted from personal appearance, while two other accused were remanded to judicial custody till July 27 by a special court. On a plea by defence lawyer Ayaz Khan, designated judge M S Keny exempted Fardeen as he was occupied with professional assignments. On June 30, Fardeen was allowed by the court to visit Australia for film shooting till July 20. The judge has directed the actor to deposit his passport after he returns from Australia. In a related development, Nasir Abdul Karim Shaikh and Tony Gomes, arrested with Fardeen on charges of indulging in the sale of cocaine, were further remanded to judicial custody till July 27. The court extended their remand after prosecution pleaded for their custody on the ground that investigations were incomplete. Fardeen was arrested on May 5 while attempting to buy a small quantity of cocaine in suburban Juhu. He was later released on bail on May 10. PTI
