Not fair!Calcutta-based producer director Arun Kabashi has threatened to move court against the National Film Festival authorities for allegedly resorting to large-scale malpractices while selecting this year's award-winning films. Addressing newsmen in Calcutta on April 18, the filmmaker said that he had sent his latest film Durga to compete in the regional film category this year. "But I was informed that the film was not even shown to the jury board at any point of time and the cans were not even unlocked for screening." Claiming that his film was critically acclaimed owing to its unique storyline and technical excellence, Kabashi said he was very confident about bagging at least two national honours for Durga. Expressing his disillusionment about the whole selection process of the National Awards, Kabashi supported the refusal of awards by filmmaker Gautam Ghose and actor Soumitra Chatterjee. "I am also trying to rope in other cheated directors in other states to form a some sort of a protest forum." He reiterated his decision to sue the festival authorities for indulging in corruption and favouritism.
