The commission announced that simultaneous assembly elections will be held in Karnataka, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh as per the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections. Counting of votes in all constituencies will be taken up on October 6, while the poll process will be completed by October 10. Byelections to fill casual vacancies in a few assemblies will be held along with the general elections.
