Maharashtra will get a government in the next two-three days, Governor Mohammed Fazal said on Tuesday.
He said he might not seek a letter of support from the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party coalition to establish on paper its majority in the 288-member assembly.
"Perhaps I will not ask letter of support from Congress-NCP, as no other party has staked claim to form the government," he said at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.
The alliance has 141 seats in the assembly and is short of four to have a simple majority.
The NCP claims to have the support of 11 of the 19 independents.
