Renu Jogi, the doctor wife of Congress candidate from Mahasamund Lok Sabha constituency and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi, on Tuesday resigned from government service, apparently to campaign for her husband for the April 20 poll.
She was working as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology in the Raipur Medical College Hospital.

Sources close to the family said she may campaign in Mahasamund since Jogi is undergoing treatment in Mumbai for serious injuries sustained in a car accident on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Jogi's condition is 'improving progressively' and he was allowed to sit on the bed on Tuesday.
The 59-year-old Congress leader suffered severe spinal and head injuries on Sunday when the car in which he was travelling from Rajim to Deobhog in Chhattisgarh, hit a tree. He was flown to Mumbai the same day and operated by a team of doctors headed by neurosurgeon Dr C E Deopujari at Bombay Hospital.
"His health parameters like blood pressure, pulse rate, are absolutely normal now and he even took normal food today," cardiologist Dr B K Goyal, who is Chief Cardiologist and Honorary Dean of Bombay Hospital, said.
He is off the life support system, which was placed immediately after the operation, and he was also allowed to have normal food.
The extent of the damage to his spine is yet to be ascertained but Jogi is getting back sensitivity in his legs. His lower limbs had been paralysed following the accident.
