If the Bhojshala issue is solved, they (the BJP) will have no work," Digvijay Singh tells the meeting. "They say the idol of Godess Saraswati that was in the temple is now in London, but the British high commissioner told me the idol in the UK is not that of Goddess Saraswati."

The Centre allowed Hindus to worship at the controversial site on Tuesdays while Muslims continued to offer Friday prayers. The Delhi high court earlier adjourned hearing on a petition challenging the Archaeological Survey of India order on opening the shrine. The Madhya Pradesh high court is to decide the matter.

"This country has never had a religious war," says Singh, "fundamentalism is spread by 1% of the Hindu population and 1% of the Muslim population."

Stressing his and the Congress commitment to fight both Hindu and Muslim fundamentalism, Singh explains how he was the first chief minister to ask for a ban on SIMI and the Bajrang Dal.

"One provokes Hindus, one Muslims."
