Keshubhai projects Modi as chief minister

Caretaker Chief Minister Narendra Modi would take over the reins of Gujarat if the Bharatiya Janata Party won the December 12 assembly election, senior party leader Keshubhai Patel said on Thursday.

Kicking off the party campaign in Mehsana, Patel, an archrival of Modi, said: "There is no need to change the chief minister every time."

Asked if he was an aspirant for the post, Patel said, "There is no question. The party high command has already projected Modi as the chief minister."

Referring to the recent terrorist attack on the Akshardham temple, Patel said his government would give a befitting reply to anti-national elements.
