The name of the candidate for the Ellisbridge seat, from where known Modi detractor Haren Pandya is a BJP aspirant, also did not figure in the second list.
The party has so far announced 164 candidates and kept pending the candidature for 17 constituencies.
The pending constituencies include Tankara, Upleta, Jamnagar, Manavadar, Dariapur and Shahpur, Khadia, Deodar, Modasa, Meghraj, Devgadh Baria, Cambay, Raopura, Vaghodia and Dediapadia (ST).
The Congress has renominated sitting MLA Rajendra Singh Patel from the sensitive Godhra seat while Pradesh Congress Committee president Shankarsinh Vaghela's son, Mahendrasinh Vaghela, has been given the ticket from Sami.
The party has renominated 51 MLAs, including Nagarbhai Vasava from Songarh (ST), Madhubhai Jaelayabhai from Dangs Bansda (ST) and Gunwantibhai Makwana from Bavla (SC).
Among the prominent candidates are Congress Legislative Party leader Amarsinh Chaudhury, former chief minister Dilip Parekh, former CLP leader Naresh Rawal, former deputy chief minister Narhari Amin and former minister Shaktisinh Gohil.
Shankarsinh Vaghela, a member of the Lok Sabha, is unlikely to contest.
Meanwhile, determined to adopt a united front against the BJP, the CPI-M is likely to launch an undeclared campaign in support of the Congress and other forces opposing the ruling party in the state.
A meeting of the CPI-M Central Committee, which was preceded by that of the politburo, discussed the political scenario in the state and felt that the priority was to ensure the defeat of the BJP.
The party would be contesting only one seat in the state.
Defence Minister George Fernandes-led Samata Party has decided to put up sixty candidates in Gujarat and on Friday released the first list of 14 candidates in Ahmedabad.
