The polls has forecast a 55 per cent vote for the ruling party in the wake of polarisation of the voters along communal lines following the recent violence.
Helped by a 10.2 per cent swing of votes in its favour, the BJP is expected to win between 120 to 130 of the 182 seats, the opinion poll said adding the magnitude of polarisation along sectarian lines was 'staggering'.
In the bipolar polity, the Congress would have to be content with only 45 to 55 seats with a vote share of 42 per cent, the survey published in the latest issue of India Today said.
The survey was carried out by ORG-Marg between November six and ten by interviewing 9,481 eligible voters - 2,823 in urban centres and 6,658 in rural areas - spread across 52 assembly constituencies in the state.
Barring the BJP and the Congress, other parties do not stand much chance in the keenly contested battle of the ballot with the survey showing that 'others' could secure only two to seven seats cornering three per cent of the votes.
The survey concluded that "there was a sharp dichotomy between how events in Gujarat are perceived outside the state and how Gujaratis view them."
It claims the aftermath of the riots has nullified the anti-incumbency mood, which was visible in the last days of the Keshubhai Patel government and "Gujarat is now revelling in its honeymoon with Chief Minister Narendra Modi."
