Celebrity daughters on the campaign trailTheir filial duty has put them on dusty rural roads which they would otherwise have never traversed. Three celebrity daughters are in the thick of poll campaigning in the district, each canvassing for one of their parents contesting the Lok Sabha polls. Priyanka Vadra, after making her presence felt during the hectic campaigning in Bellary in Karnataka where her mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi was in the fray in the first phase of parliamentary polls on September 5, is now touring Tiloi and Salon (Reserved) assembly segments in the district which is part of the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, again for her mother. The constituency goes to the polls on October 3. Sarika Sharma, daughter of former Union minister and Congress candidate from Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency Captain Satish Sharma, is lending a helping hand by joining the campaign trail. While the high-profile Priyanka has been to Amethi many times, it is Sarika's maiden trip to the area. Also joining the electioneering is Radhika Nehru, daughter of former Union minister Arun Nehru, who this time is contesting on a BJP ticket. Once a privileged visitor to 10, Janpath, Arun Nehru has since switched sides and is seeking a third term from this constituency. This being her second visit here, Radhika says, ''I made my first speech in Rae Bareli when I was only nine although I do not remember exactly what I said.'' To the voters, she keeps repeating: ''Rae Bareli is not new to me. It is our second home. My father served you in the past and now Atalji has given him a chance to serve you again.'' On her family ties with the Gandhi family, she says, ''my father tells me not to look back and move on.'' UNI
