Statistical highlights of the second day's in the first Test between India and Sri Lanka, in Colombo, on Thursday.

# Thilan Samaraweera's second Test hundred (111 not out off 187 balls) against India is his seventh in Test cricket. He had scored 103 not out on his Test debut against India at Colombo, SSC in 2001-02.

# For the first time in his Test career, Samaraweera recorded hundreds in successive innings. In his previous innings against the West Indies at Port of Spain in April 2008, he scored 125.

# Samaraweera and Jayawardene were associated in a stand of 148 -- Sri Lanka's best for the fourth wicket against India at SSC, Colombo, surpassing theĀ  85 between Ranjan Madugalle and Duleep Mendis in 1985-86.

# Sri Lanka, for the sixth time in a day's play against India, have made 300 runs or more -- fourth time at Colombo, SSC.

# Three Sri Lankan batsmen -- Warnapura, Jayawardene and Samaraweera recorded centuries, providing the third instance when three or more centuries have been recorded for Sri Lanka in the same innings against India.

# Mahela Jayawardene (136) hit his fourth century in successive innings at SSC, Colombo. In his previous three knocks at the venue, his scores were 374 against South Africa in 2006; 127 against Bangladesh in 2007 and 195 against England in 2007-08.

# During the course of his 23rd Test hundred, Jayawardene completed his 5000 runs in Sri Lanka - 5024 at an average of 66.98 in 54 Tests, including 17 centuries.

# Warnapura's career-best score in Test cricket is 120 against West Indies at Providence in 2007-08.

# Warnapura's knock is now the highest by a Sri Lankan against India in a debut innings. Duleep Mendis (105 at Chennai in 1982-83), Kumar Sangakkara (105 not out at Galle in 2001-02) and Thilan Samaraweera (103 not out at Colombo, SSC, in 2001-02) were the three Sri Lankan players, posting a century each in their debut innings against India.

# The 155-run stand between Warnapura and Jayawardene is Sri Lanka's second best partnership for the third wicket against India -- the best being 218-run stand between Sanath Jayasuriya and Aravinda de Silva at Colombo, SSC in 1997-98.
