Statistical highlights of the second day's play in the first Test between India and England at the M A Chidambaran stadium in Chennai on Friday.

# Harbhajan Singh, with three wickets in England's innings, took his tally of wickets this year to 58. Only South Africa's Dale Steyn (60) has claimed more wickets than Harbhajan in 2008.

# Graeme Swann, by dismissing Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid with his third and sixth balls respectively, became the second bowler after Richard Johnson (England) to capture two wickets in his first over in Test cricket. Johnson was the first bowler to record feat, against Zimbabwe in the 2003 Chester-le-Street Test.

# VVS Laxman's run aggregate (1045) is the third best in 2008 -- the top two being South Africa's Graeme Smith (1363) and India's Virender Sehwag (1362). The two other batsmen to aggregate 1,000 runs this year are South Africa's Hashim Amla (1012) and Neil McKenzie (1002).

# With 2748 runs against Australia, Tendulkar is the second Indian and 11th overall to score 2,000 runs against two countries in Tests. West Indian Clive Lloyd (vs India, vs Australia and vs England) and Gavaskar (vs West Indies, vs England and vs Pakistan) are the only ones to achieve the feat against three countries.

# Apart from Lloyd, Gavaskar and Tendulkar, the other eight batsmen with 2,000 runs against two opponents are three West Indians, Vivian Richards, Desmond Haynes and Brian Lara; three Englishmen, Wally Hammond, Geoff Boycott and Graham Gooch and two Australians Allan Border and Steve Waugh.

# Matt Prior recorded his best innings against India, bettering his 42 at Lord's in 2007. His unbeaten 53 is his fifth Test fifty.

# Andrew Flintoff is without a fifty in his last eight innings. He had last recorded a fifty in January 2007 -- 89 off 142 balls against Australia in Sydney.

# Flintoff had registered four successive fifties in his previous two Tests against India - 70 & 51 at Mohali and 50 & 50 at Mumbai in March 2006.
