Sir Donald George Bradman retired in 1948 with a magical haul 6,996 runs in 52 Tests and a stunning average of 99.94.

The legendary Australian holds the following records in Test cricket:

  • Highest career batting average (minimum 5 innings): 99.94

  • Most runs against one opponent: 5,028 (against England in 63 innings of 37 Tests at an average of 89.78)

  • Most runs in one series: 974 (against England in England,1930)

  • Highest series batting average (5 Test series): 201.50 (against South Africa in Australia,1931–32)

  • Highest score by a number 5 batsman: 304 (against England at Leeds in 1934)

  • Highest score by a number 7 batsman: 270 (against England at Melbourne in1936–37)

  • Most runs in one day's play: 309 (against England at Leeds in 1930)

  • Most centuries scored in a single session of play: 6 (1 pre-lunch, 2 post lunch session, 3 post tea session)

  • Most double centuries: 12

  • Most double centuries in a series: 3 (against England in England,1930)

  • Most triple centuries: 2 (equal with Brian Lara and Virender Sehwag)

  • Centuries in most consecutive matches: 6 (the last three Tests in 1936–37, and the first three Tests in 1938)

  • Highest fifth wicket partnership: 405 with Sid Barnes (against England at Sydney in 1946-47)

  • Highest sixth wicket partnership: 346 (v England, Melbourne,1936-37 (with Jack Fingleton)
