Notes:

  • Was a member of the India under-19 team that won the Asia Cup in 2003-04.
  • Came into limelight when he scored a brilliant 66 for India B against India A in the Challenger Trophy in Mumbai in 2004-05 against an attack that comprised Zaheer Khan, RP Singh and Murali Kartik.
  • Made a match-winning 78-ball hundred (116 off 93 balls) for India B against India A in the Challenger Series in Mohali in 2005-06 against VRV Singh, RP Singh and L Balaji, racing from 61 to 100 in just 15 balls.
  • Selected for India to play in the final one-dayer against England at Indore (in place of Virender Sehwag) and compiled the highest score by an Indian on ODI debut. Should have gone on to score a hundred, but lost his wicket because of his casual running between the wickets when in the 80s. His next two ODI innings produced only 12 and 0.
  • With 854 runs in seven matches including four hundreds and three fifties (avg.65.69) Uthappa is the leading run-scorer in Ranji Trophy this season.
