Having proved a point with a classy century, Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly credited the effort to a positive attitude and determination to score runs on his third tour of Australia.

"As a cricketer you want to come to this part of the world and score runs. This is my third tour here and I was determined to score runs this time. It is a good start and I hope to score a lot of runs before the end of the tour," said Ganguly who made 144 off 196 balls to propel India to 362 for six on the penultimate day of the first Test at Bribane.

Asked about doubts raised over his ability to play the short pitched deliveries by some Australian players before the start of the Test, the southpaw said it was important to have confidence in one's own ability.

"It is important that you don't doubt your ability. People will always have their opinions after you play for so long. But it does not matter as long as you are positive.

"We were under some pressure at 62 for three. I knew I had to try and stay at the crease and score some runs. I just went there being positive and let my instinct do the rest.

"I am happy it went my way."

On India's gameplan for for Monday, Ganguly said "we are left with very little time. We will try and put some quick runs on the board and just see what happens if we can get early wickets," he added.
