In the men's steeplechase event, Avinash Sable showcased exceptional dominance, securing India's inaugural track and field gold at Hangzhou.

He asserted his authority right from the beginning, crossing the finish line in a remarkable time of 8:19.53, setting a new Games Record in the process.

This victory marks a historic moment for India as it clinches its first-ever track and field gold in the Asian Games of 2023.

In the shot put event, Tajinder Toor is currently holding the bronze medal position with a throw of 19.51 meters. However, given his status as the Asian record holder, anything less than a gold would likely be a disappointment for the Punjab athlete. Tajinder Toor can breathe a sigh of relief as he successfully lands his first legal throw of the evening during his initial attempt, registering a distance of 19.51 meters and securing a spot in the final eight.

Meanwhile, in the men's long jump competition, Jeswin Aldrin appears to be feeling the pressure. He fouled in his second attempt, and his compatriot Sreeshankar Murali has yet to make a legal jump.

Sreeshankar successfully registers a legal jump of 7.87 meters, although he expresses dissatisfaction with the outcome.

After the completion of the first round, Jeswin Aldrin finds himself in the third spot with a jump of 7.75 meters.
