In the 56th minute Lukaku misses another close chance. Lukaku's poor touch allows Pickford to gather the ball cleanly.

Lingard drills the ball towards the far post. Kane is inches away from getting a touch on the ball but it goes WIDE.

In the second half Lingard and Rashford replace Rose and Sterling. 

England have been brighter in this half. Chance! Trippier's free-kick in the 51st minute almost reaches Stones but Vertonghen clears it.  

Soon Stones is booked for pulling down Hazard.

England doesn't look too good. Kane is off colour. Is that making all the difference?

Belgium are attacking. They are not satisfied with 1-0 lead. Hazard and Lukaku look desperate for a goal here.  

Chadli is down and it looks as though he's pulled a hamstring. Vermaelen comes on for Chadli.

In the 23rd minute Harry Kane came close to scoring. Alas, the shot went wide. 

Just two minutes later, Sterling goes for goal but his effort too is wide of the target. 

Statspack: Thomas Meunier's goal was the fastest scored (3 minutes and 37 seconds) by a Belgium player in the history of the World Cup.  

After half an hour into the match, Belgium come across as a better side. When they are on the ball, the players looks lively. England just can't match their pace.

Chance! 

In the 9th minute Belgium had a chance to double their lead. Lukaku drives, he has De Bruyne and Hazard up in support and he plays the ball to the Manchester City forward. 

In the end, England win the ball back in the penalty area. Hazard looks frustrated.

England try to respond but Trippier's cross is cleared.

18:46   FIFA World Cup: England make five changes for playoff with Belgium

England manager Gareth Southgate made five changes to his team for Saturday's World Cup third-place play-off against Belgium but the tournament's top scorer Harry Kane starts.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Eric Dier, Phil Jones, Danny Rose and Fabian Delph all come into the starting line-up after beginning on the bench in the semi-final defeat to Croatia.Dele Alli, Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young, Kyle Walker and Jordan Henderson are all dropped to the bench by Southgate.

Kane, who with six goals is favourite for the Golden Boot, will start alongside Raheem Sterling.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez made two changes with Thomas Meunier returning from suspension and Youri Tielemans given a start. 

Midfielders Mousa Dembele and Marouane Fellaini make way.
