The IOC says a female Syrian hurdler has been kicked out of the London Olympics for doping.
The IOC said on Saturday that 400-metres hurdler Ghfran Almouhamad tested positive for the banned stimulant methylhexaneamine on August. 3.
The backup "B'' sample confirmed the positive finding.
The 23-year-old athlete finished eighth and last in her first-round heat on August 5. The IOC said she has been disqualified and stripped of her Olympic accreditation.

India's archery coach Limba Ram made a quiet exit from the national team not just because of the country's dismal Olympic performance but also after being allegedly insulted by his top wards Deepika Kumari and Jayanta Talukdar, who denied the accusation.

According to a team source, Limba was at loggerheads with Deepika and Jayanta who apparently stopped communicating with him.
While Deepika was not available for reaction, Talukdar dismissed the allegations, saying, "It's all false. Everything was smooth in the camp."
Indian archers drew a blank at the Games, bowing out by the quarterfinal stage in both the team and individual events.

Ramon Miller of the Bahamas chased down Angelo Taylor of the United States in the men's 4x400m final to win his country's first gold medal in a relay won by America at every Olympics since 1984.
Miller lifted the Bahamas to a time of 2:56.72, .33 seconds better than the US.

Carmelita Jeter crossed the finish line pointing the baton at the clock showing a world record of 40.82 seconds as the United States won the women's 4x100-metre relay for the first time since 1996.

Meseret Defar upstaged fellow-Ethiopian Tirunesh Dibaba to win the 5,000 metres.
Defar, the 2004 Olympic champion, overtook Dibaba on the final stretch and held on to win the gold medal in 15 minutes, 4.25 seconds.
World champion Vivian Cheruiyot of Kenya surged into second place in the last 50m to claim the silver medal in 15.04.73s.
Dibaba finished with the bronze in 15:05.15s.
Dibaba was aiming to repeat as double Olympic champion in the 5,000 and 10,000m. She won the distance double in Beijing in 2008 and retained her 10,000 title on the first night of the track and field competition at the London Games.

The United States and Jamaica advanced to the Olympic final of the women's 4x400-metre relay.
Both high-profile teams easily won their preliminary heats. With 400 bronze medalist DeeDee Trotter running the anchor leg after Keshia Baker, Francena McCorory and Diamond Dixon circled the track, the Americans finished in 3 minutes, 22.09 seconds.
