Good evening Mr Seth, as a writer you must get a lot of ideas, which do you decide are worthy of the effort of being written as a novel?

I agree with Mohan Das that A Suitable Boy gets rather a negative epiteth.

Hi Vikram have you started work on your new novel? Or there is a long time for that to happen? BTW do you enjoying the book reading sessions?

I found it a marvellous book, it gave me insight into India (I am not from India) and intrest in a period of Indian history of which my knowledge is limited. One of my questions to Mr. Vikram Seth would be how long it took to write and was he surprised at the success.

And since noone is writing I'll continue: Is it difficult to start anew after the success? Did people (editors/publishers/readers) press for a sequel?

Mr Seth haveyou ever suffered from writers block? BTW while writing A Suitable Boy did you ever stop in between the book wondering will the story ever end or you had a definite end in sight? PLus how did you manage to control the characters without letting them run amok on paper?

Suitable Boy is about passion gone wrong and there is a certain condemnation (sorry for the strong word) of passion. It advocates clear, level headed search for - not love but life-mate.
