'Our aim is to make India a Hindu country'
New Delhi, 16 May 2001: Vishnu Hari Dalmia was back on The Rediff Chat, a few days after the non-BJP parties swept the assembly elections in the states of Assam, Bengal, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Pondicherry.
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : Jai Shriram freinds, I am here to take your questions
ash : mathura is in ur agenda?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : Yes, Mathura is on our agenda because it is as imprtant for us as Ayodhya.
guru : sir i want to know what are u doing futher
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : Our religious leaders have already announced that after next Shivaratri, the temple construction work will start at any time.
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : India is not a fundamentalist nation at all. The Hindu religion does not teach fundamentalism. It gives respect to all religions.
Tara : Mr Dalmia what was the reason for BJPs rout in Assam and Tamil Nadu?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : You are asking a question pertaining to the BJP, that is for the BJP to answer. I can only speak about the VHP.
hhhh : Is it not the VHP aim to make India a Hindu Republic country and inject religious fundamentalism into India's politics?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : Our aim is to make India a Hindu country but not a funademantalist state because we believe in giving equal respect to all religions. In India of our dream, all religions will be respected and their followers will have full religious liberty.
madhukar : Mr dalmia what VHP's views on govt. interference in religion like taking over of shrines like vaishno devi & tirupati
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : The government should not interfere in religious matters. If any shrine is mismanaged, an independent board consisting of religious leaders can be formed to look after its management.
krishna : If you say jaishriram friends, then your friend from other religion may not respond.
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : Why not, they should respond because according to our belief, Lord Ram and Lord Allah are the same.
mpcan : We all indians blame Afganistanians for their faithfulness towards Islam and we said they are terrorists. Don't you think VHP & RSS is doing similar things in india.
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : There is a big difference between the two because in Afghanistan, they do not allow any other religious groups to function while our policy is to the contrary.
madhukar : Mr Dalmia why doesnt VHP does something constructive
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : We are doing a lot of constructive things in the social service sector such as schools, hospitals and also rendering service during natural calamities. The recent Gujarat earthquake is an example. Our people were the first to reach the affected state to render humanitarian service. You should ask the people of Gujarat what they think of us.
gagan : hind the govt susidies amarnath and many other religious pilgramages
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : They really should but because of the Muslim appeasement policy they only subsidise Haj pilgrimage which is also unIslamic.
bekasoor : Do you think this country will every improve??
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : I have my own doubts but we should keep on trying.
hind : do you think if we through muslims out if india them many problems will be solved
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : At the time of partition, the exchange of population between India and Pakistan was a natural corollary because Pakistan was formed on the thesis that the Muslims cannot live with Hindus. But our political leaders did not accept it and because of it all the problems including Kashmir have cropped up. Pakistan has thrown out all the Hindus forcibly while India is welcoming Bangadeshis to come and settle in this country which will add to the problems.
Mehta : VHP is using Hidusim in politics for his own benefit
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : No, this is false propaganda by vested interests.
soumen : namaskar sir I have seen you at rajgangpur orissa . what is your view over w.bengal vote?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : What can I sayu on this, voting is the prerogative of the electorate. But there are cases where polling is rigged which must be stopped if true democracy is to function.
gagan : what do you think of Gowalkars book where he refers to " Christians , Muslims and Communists " as the 3 internal enemies..
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : As far as communists are concerned, they draw their inspiration from Russia and China, therefore, they can't be friends of India.
Mehta : VHP comes heavy on Bofor issue but never come forward on time of TEHElKA issue
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : VHP has not commented on such political matters. But we do feel that corruption should be rooted out from the country irrsepctive of who are involved.
manish : when can we have the temple builtat ahodhya and at other sites which were destroyed by invaders
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : Regarding Ayodhya, I have already given an answer. For Mathura and Kashi, the matter wikll be taken in hand thereafter.
Arjun : in interior parts of tamil nadu and in chennai ity itslef...several misionary organizations are shamelessly propgating religion by offering money etc...whyisnt the govt doing anything especially BJP which has come to power on the basis of the majority community vote?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : What you say is correct. The government should take notice of this but again due to the ppeasement policy for the minorities the government does not do so.
prashant : what is your opinion about India will become no1 country in World by 2005?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : I have my great doubts looking at the present scenario.
shreeram : is BJP govt nor supporting you for Ram temple or they r worried of their seat at centre.?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : All political parties are worried about their seat of power and the BJP is no exception. If it suits them politically to support the Ram temple, they will do so. Otherwise not.
amar : what is your opinion regarding growing casteism in BJP,RSS,VHP.If u r not agree with me i will givw you example.
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : The VHP does not believe in casteism. We believe that all Hindus are equal.
ammu : Tell me pls minig of hindu?or What is the hindutav? so i am able to ans to other people or any bady know then mail me briom2002@rediffmail.com
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : Following the Hindu religion is called Hindutva. You should read Hindu literature like Ramayana and Bhagvad Gita and meet some Hindu religious leaders to clear your doubts if any.
deeptiji : why vhp is not starting geeta schools for teaching hinduism to all hindus which is deprived of it
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : Many other Hindu religious organisations are already do so.
Maheshwari : dalmiaji, what is your position on conversions taking place in the north east?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : We are against all kinds of conversions and are fighting it out to the best of our abilities. But we suffer due to lack of government support.
boby : I feel main problems of India is,Illirate people, deeply enrouted cast system. How can VHP play good role to solve these problems?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : I agree with your assessment. In our own humble way, we are trying to improve the situation. But our resources are limited. In view of the paucity of time, I am bidding you goodbye and hope to be with you again
Maheshwari : dalmiaji, what will be the vhp's position if nepal becomes a secular country, instead of a hindu country?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : Muslims and communists are infiltrating in a big way in Nepal. It will be dangerous for India if Nepal is dominated by such anti-Indian elements.Already, Pakistan has got a foothold in the country.
rajkumar : Sir, It seems soon muslims are going to rule india? Am i right? cuz, our hindus are not learning any lessons from the past. Even, we are not able to retaliate small bloody sucking bangladeshis?
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : I fear the same becauase of the weak policies of the governments in India right from Independence. This will, however, be disastrous for the Hindus.
neutral : Why dont you people go to the rural areas ans serve the poor so they can be stopped from the conversion
Vishnu Hari Dalmia : We are already doing a number of social services as I have already stated including in the rural areas.
