The Suchitra Krishnamoorthi Chat

She was late. And we chewed our nails to the bone. It was way beyond 2130 hours IST (the time scheduled for the Chat) and there was no sign of our guest for the evening - Suchitra Krishnamoorthi.

Panicky, phone calls to her husband - movie director Shekhar Kapur - were met with calm assurances that she had left for the Rediff office more than an hour and a half ago and should be with us any moment. To calm us down, he even parted with Suchitra's cellular phone number. But desperate calls to her cellular only elicited a lack of response.

Just as we were at wit's end, the singer walked in - hot and very irritated.

"Someone," she fumed, "messed up with the directions. I was told this office was near Hong Kong bank." Which is a good 10 minutes from where we are located.

We logged in immediately and, for all her acknowledged lack of knowledge about the Internet, she proved herself adept at Chat.
