The Madhavrao Scindia ChatOn Friday, VSNL opened a stall at IT Asia/COMDEX in Delhi and launched some 25 free Internet surfing stations. As a result, VSNL's 25 best lines were taken, leading to unavoidable complications with the Madhavrao Scindia Chat. Once we got connected, it was difficult to hold the connection for long. And whenever we lost the connection, the numbers we dialed had no carrier or garbage spewed out.Mr Scindia specifically asked that all of you know this. Though he does not usually give interviews or appear in a forum like this, the MP from Gwalior has promised to be back on the Rediff Chat in a few weeks's time. He answered one more question which you will find at the end of the Chat transcript.
Scindia's answers were marked by rare candour. Why don't you read it?
Maratha (Fri Dec 6 19:34:45 1996 IST):

Hey, Nikhil has Mr Scindia logged in??? Nainan (Fri Dec 6 19:54:44 1996 IST):
Mr Scindia: Can you give reasons as to why you are interested in cricket??? Hansel (Fri Dec 6 19:55:03 1996 IST):
. Alok Tripathi (Fri Dec 6 19:57:32 1996 IST):
Hey, is Mr Scindia in???? Alok Tripathi (Fri Dec 6 20:00:32 1996 IST):
MR SCINDIA, WHERE ARE YOU? LAGTA HAI GRAHAN LAG GAYA??? Puneet (Fri Dec 6 20:00:48 1996 IST):
Are we waiting on Mr. Scindia Puneet (Fri Dec 6 20:02:37 1996 IST):
It must be the traffic again. Its common for the politicians to show up late after they win the elections else you will find them right on the minute during campaign stretch. Alok Tripathi (Fri Dec 6 20:03:52 1996 IST):
Hi, Puneet. I quite agree with you, :) :) :) Bilkis (Fri Dec 6 20:04:18 1996 IST):
He must be on his way. Parliament is in session. We are lucky to have Maharaj here. he would make a nice PM. Puneet (Fri Dec 6 20:04:46 1996 IST):
Alok I think we need to start the issues while we wait for Mr. Scindia. Alok Tripathi (Fri Dec 6 20:06:22 1996 IST):
Puneet: I think Mr Scindia is the most handsome politican in India?? he looks quite young, isn't it? Do you know his age.... Ram Behari Sharma (Fri Dec 6 20:06:27 1996 IST):
Do you think Scindia would make a good PM? Puneet (Fri Dec 6 20:06:57 1996 IST):
Hey what do you all think about all these laloo prasad yadav's, Mulayam Singh Yadav and party. Do you realize the potential of these politicians who out of no where (almost) are leading a country like india which is on the brink of 21st century. Bilkis (Fri Dec 6 20:08:49 1996 IST):
Mr Scindia, do you think the Congress party can be revived? An honest answer please. If so, how? Puneet (Fri Dec 6 20:09:26 1996 IST):
Alok, I do agree that he is handsome. But let's not give all the points to his personality. We need a person who can lead this nation into the 21st century. Its likely that Mr. Scindia will make a good PM but what about all the people around him. These days people are more scared of politicians rather than the goondas. Madhavrao Scindia (Fri Dec 6 20:09:27 1996 IST):
I am happy to be on internet. This is the time when we are moving towards the global society and internet certainly symbolises this new structure that is emerging. I am happy to be with my friends all over the world. I look forward to spending time with you. Ram Behari Sharma (Fri Dec 6 20:09:45 1996 IST):
Do you still consider yourself a Maharaja, an aristocrat? Shameem Siddiqui (Fri Dec 6 20:11:29 1996 IST):
Sir, it's good speaking with you. I just want to ask you: on the fourth anniversary of that black day when the Babri Masjid was demolished, do you believe that Hindu fundamentalism in that vicious form can ever return to India with the same extent of hate? Alok Tripathi (Fri Dec 6 20:11:30 1996 IST):
Mr Scindia: I always wondered how you and your mother have different ideologies? I'm interested to know, how often do you interact with your mother? Ram Behari Sharma (Fri Dec 6 20:12:03 1996 IST):
What is your opinion of the Deve Gowda government? Do you think it is doing a good job? Puneet (Fri Dec 6 20:12:35 1996 IST):
Mr. Scindia: what measures in your opinion should be taken to revive the confidence of general public in the government irrespective of whether it is Congress, BJP, Janta Dal or a mix of all the regional parties which we have currently. Madhavrao Scindia (Fri Dec 6 20:13:03 1996 IST):
Nainan: Cricket is a game I immensely enjoy. I do feel that to be healthy in outlook and to be more productive in whatever vocation one adopts in life it is important to have healthy diversions. What better diversion than sports. As I could play fairly useful game of cricket I continue to enjoy it. Though sometimes it is difficult to organise 22 players and a ground, I must admit that I am switching rapidly to becoming a golf adict. Nainan. (Fri Dec 6 20:15:08 1996 IST):
Mr Scindia: Are there any other games besides golf and cricket, you enjoy playing? Also, can you tell me, did you ever get a chance to play for Indian cricket team, if not, why?? ccr (Fri Dec 6 20:15:12 1996 IST):

I admire Mr Scindia, not because he is a Maharaja, but because he is the most dynamic men in Indian politics. I am fed up of the tired men with no Big Ideas. That's what India needs: BIG IDEAS. What, Mr Scindia, would be your agenda for India's future? unoasia (Fri Dec 6 20:17:55 1996 IST):
Hello Mr Scindia Please give your viewpoints on the emerging political scenario. unoasia (Fri Dec 6 20:18:30 1996 IST):

What do you have to say about the uncontrolled corruption in the Congress party? Shameem Siddiqui (Fri Dec 6 20:18:36 1996 IST):
You are 51 today. What changes would you like to see happening in India in the next twenty years? What are the biggest problems confronting India? Ram Behari Sharma (Fri Dec 6 20:19:32 1996 IST):

Why does India today need the Congress party? And why are Congressmen so keen to be ruled by another foreigner -- Sonia Gandhi? Are all Congress men made of straw? Shameem Siddiqui (Fri Dec 6 20:20:32 1996 IST):

Mr Scindia, why should a man of your wealth take hawala money? holkars of indore (Fri Dec 6 20:25:02 1996 IST):
Don't you think that the only reason you won the last Lok Sabha election was because there was no BJP candidate against you? Isn't it sad that after opposing your mother for so many years, you finally needed her help to win the elections! Puneet (Fri Dec 6 20:25:07 1996 IST):
Where are you Mr. Scindia. holkars of indore (Fri Dec 6 20:26:08 1996 IST):
