The Air Commodore Jasjit Singh Chat
hegde (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:19 IST)
Why won't India go for military alliance with a major power???
Maria (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:19 IST)
Hello Mr Jasjit Singh, why have the air strikes been less effective. Is it the terrain or the fact that our planes are not of modern standards?
Jason (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:21 IST)
Hello Mr Singh, why is that the strikes have gone on for so long?? Didn't we have any idea as to how long would the strikes go on?
Sunny (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:21 IST)
So what do ya think? R we gonna get back Kashmir or not..?
Salman (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:22 IST)
Hi, I want to know, do you think that Pakistani civilians agree with the government actions?
Hari (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:25 IST)
Hi Mr Singh, what do you think will be the outcome of this conflict in Kargil??
hegde (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:25 IST)
It is a well known fact that the defence minister is a nutcase. Why is he still around???
USAFKicksButt (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:27 IST)
Air Comm: I am unfamiliar with your rank, what is the polite way to address you?
SURESH (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:27 IST)
MR SINGH, DO YOU THINK THAT US WILL SUPPORT INDIA IN CASE OF AN OPEN WAR WITH PAKISTAN
Spinster (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:27 IST)
Good morning/evening Air commodore. Why is the govt dithering in crossing the LOC?
hegde (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:28 IST)
Mr. Singh: Is it prudent not to cross the LOC to cut off supplies from long-term military considerations?
Shahezadi (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:29 IST)
Commodore.. Today Group Capt Ganesh said the IAF's new weapons delivery techniques have worked, without specifying what these techniques were. All we know is that these were perfected by the Western Air Command. Can you give some details about this?
USAFKicksButt (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:29 IST)
You gotta Nuke Islamabad and Karachi and Lahore while you all still got the chance...Annihilate. Stop yakking. The moment to act is ...like....NOW
SURESH (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:30 IST)
EXCUSE ME MR SINGH I HAD NOT RECEIVED A COMMENT ON MY QUERY. LET ME REPEAT IT ONCE AGAIN DO YOU THINK THAT US WILL SUPPORT US IN CASE OF A WAR
Amit (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:32 IST)
Sir, Don't you think instead of waiting for the world community to pressurize Pakistan to give up this conflict, it would be better if we taught them a lesson on our own. I think we should have faith in our own capabilities.
stanisv (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:33 IST)
Commodore Singh, why are we only using the Mirage 2000s? Don't we have other ground attack aircraft?
naveen (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:33 IST)
Dear sir, the other doubt I have is, Indian army claims to have killed so many infiltrators in Kargil, yet only three dead bodies are given back? What happened to all other dead bodies?
shantanu (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:33 IST)
Commodore:: What is our safeguard against the Pakis bombing our important cities??
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:33 IST)
Commodore: India has lost a tremendous number of men thus far, and even now continues to lose armymen to the Pakistani intruders at an alarming rate. Should the Indian army be given a free hand to cross the LoC, or should it be forced to fight with one armed tied behind its back?
Bhibuthi (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:35 IST)
Air Commodore Jasjit Singh: Whether India's nuclear power is going to be deterrent to first nuclear strike?
stanisv (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:35 IST)
Commodore Singh! How were the Pakistanis able to shoot down one our MIGs and we are never able to hit one of their planes?
aganeshnadar (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:35 IST)
The United States bombs a country on another continent for 79 days and we are bombing within our own country and yet we lose more people. Is it that Indians are more dispensable than the Americans?
hegde (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:35 IST)
Were the soldiers really tortured and killed? Or was it just propaganda by the Indian army? If there was torture of soldiers, does not it mandate a quick escalation from Indian viewpoint?
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:35 IST)
Commodore: Should the Indian army be permitted to attack across the LoC, or should it continue to fight on Pakistan's terms, with one arm tied behind the back? Won't Indian troops continue to be cannon-fodder for the heavily-armed Pakistani intruders otherwise?
ketan (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:36 IST)
hello air comm, it is really a commendable job that our soldiers are doing but are all the other borders with Pakistan very sensitive due to the crisis?
aganeshnadar (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:38 IST)
Pakistan first tortures our soldiers and then hands over the bodies for us to show the world ? Something doesn't ring true there.
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:38 IST)
Commodore: If the intruders are partly composed of Taliban, whose atrocities are well-documented in Afghanstan, is it really any surprise that they mutilated and murdered our soldiers? Don't they routinely do such things to enemies in Afghanistan?
Spinster (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:39 IST)
Air Commodore>> sir the day we came to know that Pak regulars were involved, why did we not declare war and finish the job once for all?
hegde (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:39 IST)
Does torture of Indian soldiers require a military retaliation??
Tejinder (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:39 IST)
Sat Sri Akal Mr. Singh. Don't you think the media is jeopardising the real motives of the Indian army and the government. Kindly give your views.
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:41 IST)
Commodore: If India continues to fight only on its side of the LoC, while Pakistan is freely allowing its forces to continue to cross the LoC into Indian Kargil, then will India be able to successfully dislodge the militants? What should be considered an acceptable casualty level for us, before we are forced to lose our restraint?
himanshu (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:46 IST)
Good evening, sir. Don't you think the Indian armed forces are suffering more casualties than expected?
naveen (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:47 IST)
Sir, I didn't get answers to any of my Q's till now. Anyway, Are we producing the MIGs in India itself now?
zeta (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:47 IST)
Greetings, sir. What I'd like to ask is that the crossing of LOC might be impractical at this moment... Are we proposing a zone of no-man's-land ?
himanshu (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:48 IST)
Sir, how do you think the civilians can help at this hour of crisis?
naveen (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:49 IST)
Thank you for the response Sir. Why did that happen?? Is it due to the pressure from US at that time? Or is it becoz of lack of commitment & poor negotiations on the Indian side.
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:49 IST)
Commodore: It has been said that India was provided with the tape of the conversation by the CIA. Does India continue to receive information from the US regarding Pakistani activities?
zeta (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:50 IST)
Sir, do u think it is important to increase the military say in bureaucracy?
naveen (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:53 IST)
Sir, Do we have the capability of striking Karachi, Rawalpindi & Islamabad with nuclear weapons in case Pakistan uses its nuclear weapons? In the first case, will Pakistan be able to hit Bombay/Delhi (I guess these are obvious targets nearer to them) in any way? Do we have the technology to intercept them (even if they use missiles, provided they have the capability to fire them with nuke warheads)?
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:53 IST)
Commodore: India's Vajpayee is continuing to go out of his way to state that India will stay on its side of the LoC. When US President Clinton flatly ruled out ground troops in Yugoslavia, he was heavily criticised for it. Should Vajpayee be similarly limiting India's options, and thus increasing Pakistan's confidence that India's response will again be soft?
abhay (Fri Jun 25 1999 7:57 IST)
Sir, what makes it very difficult for Indian army to fight and force back the intruders?
Aryan (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:4 IST)
Secondly. When u say we respect the LOC, they are not doing the same. They are encroaching, as u said right now. The army & airforce is fighting a tough battle up there. To flush them out the army clearly says we need to cross the LOC... There is no other way of tackling this.
Vajpayee announced yesterday that we won't cross the LOC.. That's being too ethical. I am sure about it that the decision is getting influenced by business houses, eg RIL, a 15 K crore co, donates only 1 Crore for the Army this is Pathetic..
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:5 IST)
Commodore: What is the likelihood of the US/West/G-8 bringing to bear economic pressure on Pakistan to withdraw its invasion force? If the US/West/G-8 fails to deliver, then should India continue to maintain its restraint?
stanisv (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:5 IST)
Commodore Singh, if we were doing it would we not have been able to notice the intrusion earlier and not have to depend on some goatherders and the army patrol?
spoc (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:9 IST)
Jasjit, if we work to stop IMF loans to Pakistan, we can win over Pakistan for ever.
naveen (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:9 IST)
Sir, I understand that sending the war prisoners back is in accordance with the Geneva convention. But do you have any idea why the occupied land is returned? As far as I see, everyone is holding the lands occupied when an aggression occurs, starting from US against Mexico to Israel against Arabs.
The only exception is India against Pakistan. Does these Indian politicians and bureaucrats think that the lives of soldiers are so cheap? It pains me a lot to think of these things and I guess everyone else feels the same way. We should have taken that land in 1948. Nehru did a grave mistake then? Why did we leave it in the next two wars?
zeta (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:9 IST)
SIR>>> I repeat my Q.. Don't u think that we should declare a no-man's land in POK and Aksai Chin?
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:10 IST)
Commodore Singh: Do you feel that Pakistan's treacherous deception at the Lahore talks have now made that Lahore process unviable? Shouldn't India emphasize this?
naveen (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:11 IST)
Dear Sir, don't we have satellite surveillance??
stanisv (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:12 IST)
Commodore Singh, do you think it would be better if the defence minister didn't make contradictory statements? Isn't that demoralising for the jawans?
zeta (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:15 IST)
The contradictory statements are not meant 4 jawans. Our jawans are disciplined enough to have faith in their superiors, arent they? SIR??
stanisv (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:16 IST)
Commodore Singh, Does the contradictory statements made by the defence minister demoralize the troops??? Shouldn't he be a bit more careful!!
bond (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:16 IST)
Sir, but don't u feel that's a bit true.. That India very soon gets on the defensive... That's why I said it's projecting as a soft nation...
zeta (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:19 IST)
SIR :? ARE MY QUES TOO IRRELEVANT? I DON'T THINK SO...THEN Y NO ANS?
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:20 IST)
Commodore: Surely it's foolish to blame Indian intelligence for not being wary of Pakistani intentions, when India's own politicians and policymakers were shaking hands with those who planned this invasion. How can intelligence be expected to function reasonably, when their very leaders are busily embracing those who're behind this intrusion?
prak (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:23 IST)
LET'S HAVE ONE LAST MOTHER OF ALL WARS AND KICK PAK'S BUTT. WHAT DO U SAY, COMMODORE?
zeta (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:35 IST)
sir , u have given ur e-mail.. Will u respond to the mails there? u seem to be ignoring my ques here..???
Aryan (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:35 IST)
Praying for all the jawans and the masterminds behind them.. Ciao, guys & thanx for ur answers.. Commodore Singh...
naveen (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:35 IST)
Thank you very much, sir.
Ravi (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:36 IST)
Mr Singh, are U here??
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:42 IST)
Commodore: Do you see the West/G-8/USA as bringing economic pressure on Pakistan via the IMF?
pref (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:42 IST)
Mr Singh, Is the Sukhoi 30 superior to the F 16
pref (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:43 IST)
Also Mr Singh, is the US planning to put pressure on India and Pak to sign the CTBT by September?
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:43 IST)
Commodore: Should India move to roll out more nuclear warheads and missile systems, in order to boost the credibility of its nuclear deterrent?
Sanjai Kukreti (Fri Jun 25 1999 8:45 IST)
Commodore: Are you still there? How long to do you feel that India should give Western powers to convince Pakistan, before India takes matters into its own hands and crossed the Line of Control, as Pakistan has already done?
rajeev (Fri Jun 25 1999 11:59 IST)
Hi I wish to know why the Air Force is not using the world's best planes, like the SU MK 30 for the conflict. Why does it still have to stick to the old MIGs and end up losing people and the plane.
