Do you want to know how one sings on the Net?

FusionBuff: The story is a simple one about all musicians. When you're little, your teacher trains you to sing but you want to do your own thing. The same happened to us. When you grow up, you are a performing musician so that's what we are doing every day. And one day you hope to win the Grammies and be up there with the biggies! Very simple story! The dream of every musician.

In a recent interview for "The Filmfare" Rehman had said that he has used an 'acoustical base' rather than his usual 'electronic base' for the film 'Anantham' for 3 songs. Do you sing in one/all of those songs ? If yes, can you share with me how different it is from his rest of his stuff ?

Lavanya: I had inborn talents which was polished under training. I learnt music under my Mom, Shrimati Alamelu Mani, and Hindustani classical music under Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.

Muthusamy Veerappan: Namaskaram. Hari ki Tamil therium, Leslie ki theriyada.

Fusionbuff: Mind blowing!:-)

Mutthusamy: Namaskaram from Lezz! That's the extent of my Tamil. Pudhiya is the only other word I know because I do so many Tamil ad jingles and Pudhiya seems to be in every one of them. I guess everything is new.

Hariharansaar: Nenge Greatest!

LEZ, since u r HARI's colonial cousin. Pray translate that alien tongue?

Lesliesaar: Nenge second greatest. Harisaar Tamil than avar than Greatest!

What do you think of Rehman? I think he is overrated. His music is repetitive, and boy he seems to have learnt by rote every bloody note from Pink Floyd!

Lavanya: We hope to release a new album mid-next year. Colonial Cousins is a band (such as Steely Dan etc) and so will obviously be together.

I think we should have more of these music chats - HEY REDIFF GUYS ARE YOU LISTENING? These music types seem to be a lot more casual and fun than the more serious business and politic types :-)

NowhereMan: I'm curious - which songs of ARR have notes from PF - I seem to have missed them!

Saar, don't think please I not speak English. I do. In MM Hills, I speak best English. You come to MM Hills sometime saars. I give you nice sandalwood.

Fusionbuff: May be, a funky bass line, a nice hip-hop groove and Hari doing a couple of alaaps, could just make that the next hit.

Fusionbuff: Virtually every one of them. They won't be intelligble to someone who sings Jim Reeves. For Chrissakes!

Nowhere Man: Rehman has brought about a new wave in Indian film music. He might be sounding repetitive in certain songs, but if you hear his music from Roja, Indira, Anandam, Kabhi Haa Kabhi Naa, sounds different, is different from movies such as Kaadil Desam, Hindustani, Kadalam. His music definitely changes according to the theme of the film. To get inspired and follow Pink Floyd sounds good, and one needs talent to do that also.

Lezz: What happened in Delhi, man! Why was your show cancelled? And why did those guys behave like that with you?

Richard: Nothin in these past few months, been very busy with Colonial shows.

JustPeeking: We'd love to. We've been asked a couple of times but it takes so much time to put it together and considering Hari's flying around India most of the time, we have managed it yet. But we keep the faith.

Hip-hop: Bad day! Cannot pinpoint the reason as to why it happened. Maybe different wavelengths.

Please give us your opinion of Alisha, Baba, Dalher, Jasmine, Mehnaz, Suchitra....

Richard: All India's premier pop artists - that's what they are!

Hari: I thought you were the South's answer to Yesudas! So what happened? Why did you get into all this and ditch us?

Hari: You used to sing some great stuff for Hindi films. Tell me, how come you never made it big? Was it because you don't push yourself? The way someone like Mumar Sanu does. Or is it because you didn't have the staying power like your fellow Tamil Kavita K does?

Sa-ni-dha-pa: What do you want me to do? Advise please.

Lezz: The IFS could have used you, for sure!

Not good enough, Hari! Lezz, we were waiting for you guys!

NowhereMan: Film music interests me to a certain point; people call me to sing songs which mostly suit me and I leave it at that. I am interested in doing creative work, my own music.
