Market@March 8: Day's reportSebi's ban on short selling failed to have any impact on sentiment. Tech stocks remained volatile, and prices dipped sharply in the second half. Himachal and NIIT lost 16 per cent each. DSQ Software, SSI, Silverline, and Satyam also lost more than 6 per cent each. The performance of old economy counters was encouraging and they supported the otherwise flagging index. ITC was up 7 per cent. HLL, Tisco, ACC and MTNL gained marginally. Trading volume was drastically lower. Sensex up 2 points at 4049. Nifty down 2 points at 1288. Sensex
