Market@April 23: Day's report

After remaining strong for a major part of the day, the software stocks showed selling pressure during the last 15 minutes. Satyam and Infosys lost more than 4 per cent each. Himachal stuck at 16 per cent upper band for a major part of the day.

Global and DSQ Software also recorded a gain of more than 10 per cent each. NIIT, Pentamedia and Silverline also remained firm.

Old economy counters also witnessed selling pressure during the last one hour of trading. MTNL, ACC, Hindalco, Ashok Leyland, Bhel, Gujarat Ambuja and Telco gained smartly. Ranbaxy, Cipla, HLL and Reliance showed a negative close.

Sensex up 4 points at 3587. Nifty up 6 points at 1150.
