Market@April 2: Day's report

The opening for software stocks was extremely bearish. Except a rally during the last 30 minutes of trading on counters like Satyam, Zee and Infosys, the performance of other counters was negative.

Himachal remained at lower circuit of 16 per cent for a major part of the day. Global, NIIT, Pentamedia, SSI, DSQ Software, and Digital lost more than 9 per cent each. Satyam and Zee gained more than 3 per cent each.

The old economy counters were also hit hard. ACC, Bhel, Tisco, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Tata Tea, Ranbaxy and SBI dipped sharply. Tata Power and HLL managed to show gains.

Sensex down 38 points at 3566. Nifty down 11 points at 1137.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
GSFC, GV Films, Roofit, Goodrick, Gesco Corp, Vorin Lab, Motherson Sumi.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
Himachal, Global, Pentamedia, Digital, ACC, DSQ Software, NIIT, SSI, Bhel, DSQ Bio, Hughes Soft, India Cement, Rolta, Sterlite Optical.

Losers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
Silverline, Tata Steel, Telco, HCL Tech, Aptech, Tata Tea, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, BPCL, HPCL, Nocil, Nath Seeds, Hind Zinc, GE Shipping.
