Pivotals take a moderate dip; Nifty down 5 points to 1110.90Pivotals declined moderately on speculative selling pressure from local operators and domestic institutional investors on the first day of current settlement at the National Stock Exchange today. Mirroring the downtrend, the S&P CNX Index opened at 1135.45 points, touched the day's high of 1142.10 points, fell to the day's low of 1086.70 points before closing at 1110.90 points, showing a net loss of 5.10 points as against the previous close of 1116.00 points. S&P CNX Nifty Junior fell sharply by 55.50 points to 1921.65 points from the previous close of 1977.15 points. S&P CNX Defty and CNX-500 also ended lower by 4.40 and 9.95 points to 900.35 and 756.68 points from the previous close of 766.63 and 665.93 points respectively. CNX Midcap -200 index dropped by 15.59 points to 650.34 points as against the previous close of 665.93 points. Today, 375 securities advanced, 615 declined, 85 remained unchanged while 114 securities hit their price bands. Total turnover on the NSE reported during the day has crossed Rs 30 billion and stood at Rs 30 billion, came from a trading of 112.92 million shares in 406,591 trades. Debentures traded were valued at Rs 2.15 million. Among the top 25 securities, Satyam Computers stood first by registering the highest turnover of Rs 4.86 billion, followed by Pentafour Software Rs 3.19 billion, Reliance Rs 2.76 billion, ITC Rs 2.63 billion and SBI Rs 1.67 billion.
