Archery: Tarundeep Rai knocked out

Tokyo Olympics organisers on Wednesday reported 16 new Games-related COVID-19 cases, bringing the disclosed total to 169.

India has not had the best of starts on the day -- PV Sindhu being the lone bright spark.

Archer Tarundeep Rai has crashed out in 2nd round of the Men's Individual event, the round of 32, losing to lower ranked Itay Shanny from Israel 5-6. Rai lost in the shoot-off.

Earlier, PV Sindhu beats Hong Kong's Cheung Ngan Yi 21-9, 21-16 to top Group J and cruise into the round of 16.  

Indian rowers Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh out of medal contention, after they finished last (6) in Semifinal of Lightweight Men's Double Sculls event with a timing of 6.24.41.

India's women's hockey team suffered their third defeat at the Tokyo Olympics, going down 1-4 to Great Britain, at the Oi Hockey stadium.
