August 04, 2021

India's javelin thrower Shivpal Singh failed to qualify for the men's final here at the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday after an underwhelming show in the Men's Long Throws Qualification -- Group B.
Qualifying performance of 83.50 (Q) or at least 12 best performers (q) advanced to the final of the men's javelin throw.

In his first attempt, Shivpal registered a throw of 76.40m. After the first attempt, he was placed at the ninth spot. In the second attempt, the 26-year-old registered a throw of 74.80m and by the time everyone was done with their second attempt, he had slipped to the 11th spot.
Shivpal registered a disappointing throw of 74.81 in his third and final throw and was placed at the 12th spot when the Qualification Group B ended.

Earlier, Neeraj Chopra hit the 86.65m-mark and automatically qualified for the final from Group A after just his first attempt.
